There was a show in Denmark where all the profit would have went to starving children in the world.
It would've have worked fine, if it hadn't been for Tina Turner who asked for close to 2 million dollars to perform 2 songs, 2 of her old hits, that she did "singback".
Now, of course, a lot of the blame could be put on the arrangers, who agreed to pay her as much as she demanded (She was a last minute replacement for Diana Ross who cancelled).
True. As far as I know, she has stopped performing etc, so in that sense it was a rare performance etc, but still..
Why do we read, over and over, about really famous artists that kill charitable events, by essentially charging full price, or more for that odd performance?
Now, I've never understood the taste in music in Denmark. A mix of, what it seem, trad jazz, boogie and blues, but.. Diana Ross and Tina Turner. Famous names, but.. aren't they a touch old? Would certainly give a slight exclusive feeling to the show, but..
If they demanded an old, black artist, I'm sure they could have found someone else, who wouldn't have charged as much.. (or better, nothing at all except the traveling expenses)
Some time ago, I got an inflammation in a tooth, underneath a filling I had. The dentist then took away the filling and put some stuff that should kill the bacteria (Which tasted like.. Yuck times a million). He only did a temporary filling then.
By the way, since the tooth was infected, I could kiss most of the anaesthesia goodbye. Among the most painful experiences I've ever had.
Some weeks ago, I went there to replace the temporary filling with a proper one. Got 2 shots, he asked if I felt numb? Nope, couldn't say. He gave me a third shot. Still nothing. Well.. a touch.. but far from what it should be. Instead, he fixed some surface stuff on another tooth, without anaesthesia.
Today, it was time for a new try. Rushed there, got 2 shots and.. zip, zero, nada, nothing.. Then he gave up. Since I didn't react the least on those shots, it was pointless to give me additional ones until I was numb. So, he just did some cleaning on my teeth, polishing them etc..
Not that I care that much about it, but.. *sigh" for having to go there again, if in 3 months, since that temporary filling has to be replaced some day sooner or later..
I don't mind going to the dentist, as such. I mean.. I'm not afraid of it or anything. Only that it's boring and feels like yuck having to. To have to be in that uncomfortable chair, where it feels as if you're turned upside down. To sit with the mouth open for ?? number of minutes.. Just sucks..
