Christmas songs

A really good indication that Christmas is coming, is the number of Christmas songs they’re playing on the radio.. It’s gets more and more intense for every day that goes, to reach a full out climax at Christmas..

And it’s always so darn nice..

Some Christmas songs really is among the best songs in the world.. but does anyone really listen to them at other times of the year.. You have that Christmas CD, or two.. which you start looking around for sometime in December, then plays.. and plays, until you play it less and less, and soon it’s shelved again, until next December.. (Except that time around May or August or something, when you listen to a couple of songs)..

I guess most have favorite Christmas songs.. The songs that, kinda.. really make them feel Christmas, to think about Christmas etc.. Some go for really great songs, as such.. some celebrate the old traditional, sing-along songs that reminds them of their childhood etc..

I guess this is my 10 favorites, for various resons.. No specific order, but I guess it’s kinda the best first.. (Not entirely, but.. close to that order)

“Silent Night” - In a really good version, it sure stops time. I prefer Enya’s version: “Oiche Chiún (Silent Night)”

“Fairytale of New York” - The Pogues feat. Kirsty MacColl

“Christmas (Baby please come home)” - Darlene Love

“Mer Jul” (More Christmas) - Adolphson & Falk (Swedish Synth-duo)

“Winter Wonderland” - Darlene Love

“Happy Xmas (War is over) - John & Yoko - The Plastic Ono Band

“Santa Claus is coming to town” - The Crystal

"The Closing of the Year" - Wendy & Lisa (Soundtrack of the movie "Toys"). Not strictly a Christmas song, as such. but.. it sure fits as one..

“Run, Run Rudolph” - Chuck Berry

“Peace on Earth/”Little Drummer Boy” - Bing Crosby & David Bowie
